The overly testosterone induced pilot of the Shenlong and Altron Gundams is the proud offspring of a legendary warrior clan, who were exiled from China to a broken-down space colony by a fearful government. Wufei follows a strict code of honor and justice, striving to protect the weak and punish the guilty. His pride is something of a weakness - when things don't go his way, Wufei's huge ego has a tendency to break. Although he tends to be better informed then his cohorts, Wufei is staggeringly more antisocial then even Heero and Trowa. His only companion is his Gundam, which he calls "Nataku." There have been two reasons for this reference, one being Nataku is the name of his deceased wife (this is the one we like and go by), the other after a Chinese mythological hero.We apologize if this offends any Wufei fans out there, but he's kind of a jelly fish. In most of the episodes he is like a dog that barks too much, but when pushed, scampers away very quickly. Don't get us wrong, he is a very good pilot who has been given some exceptional mobile suits. It's just that when his mouth gets going, he doesn't always think about the things he says before they come out. And his actions generally get him in more trouble then he can handle. Let's face it, the only reason Wufei took out Treize was due to an enormous hole left in Treize's defense during their battle that even Relena could have hit. But this is just our opinion. Well, except for the rather obnoxious and arrogant introduction between Wufei and Lt. Noin, and his half-hearted attempt at chivalry while complaining about his defeat in the middle of trying to save Sally Po.
From a stand point of actions speaking louder than words, Wufei is about as likable as a snake in a burlap sack. He does have some redeeming qualities and pilots some of the cooler Gundams, but all in all there are a lot more developed and respectable characters in the series. Besides, his Gundams usually end up getting damaged to the point of being beyond repair. But, like we stated, all of this is our opinion and is subject to disagreement.
